Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

​In 1991 at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Herschel V. Palmer III, Marcus Young rededicated his life to the Lord. After growing in the Word, he was appointed to serve as Superintendent of Church School, a Sunday School & Bible Teacher and a mentor.

He accepted his calling into the Ministry in July 2000 and gave his first public sermon under the guidance of Rev. C.L. Mapp, Sr. During this period of his ministry, he was appointed as the Youth Minister and New Member Class Teacher. Furthermore, he was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in January 2002. Minister Marcus Young received his calling to pastor the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was installed as the Pastor in February 2003. His motto is "Follow me as I follow God". (Continue Below)

Under his leadership, Chestnut Grove immediately began meeting for worship service every Sunday instead of twice a month. The Junior Usher's Ministry and Children's Sunday School were restarted, Bible Study classes were expanded to different age groups (teen and children), a New Members Class was established and the Deacon's Training was facilitated. Pastor Young ordained his first deacon, Deacon Stacey Favors, on June 27, 2003 and two more, Deacon Grady Griffin and Deacon Michael Walton on March 30, 2008.

He welcomed support in the pulpit in July 2005 when the First Lady of Chestnut Grove became Evangelist Lolita Young. Under his ministry, other ministers answered the calling and gave their first public sermon: Minister Kavius Young, July 15, 2006 and Minister Teresa Walton July 19, 2009. Moreover, he was blessed with additional ministerial support from Reverend Richard "Ricky" Sheats who Joined Chestnut Grove in January 2008. Pastor Young ordained Reverend Sheats as a Minister of the Gospel on July 26, 2009. God added to the ministry again when Pastor Teco Mannuel,
Minister Delila Floyd, Pastor Jimmy Davis, Minister Nancy Durden, and Minster Brandy Reid became his spiritual children. After accepting his calling, Brother Larry
Durden preached his first public sermon in September, 2013.

Several ministries, programs and services were organized under Pastor Young's leadership. These ministries include the Men's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Youth Praise Team, Male Chours, Pastor's Aide Committee, Outreach Ministry and Media Ministry. We hoted our first Vacation Bible School in June 2007, Graduation Service in May 2009, Healing & Deliverance Service on March 2009 and Sunrise Service in April 2012. The R.A. Mundy Nursery was opened in April 2009.

Also, under Pastor Young's leadership, the church broke ground to build a new sanctuary in April 2007 and moved in May 2008. Many have come and gone; however, Pastor Young often says "God will add to His house as He sees fit."

Pastor Young has celebrated 29 years of marriage with the lovely First Lady, Evangelist Lolita Young and they share two children, a son, Elder Kavius Young married to Sis. Jenine Young, and one daughter Tyesha Forster married to Quiton Forster, Four Grand Children three girls and one son.
